As a doctor, I understand the importance of having a well-balanced diet, and that's why I try to eat three healthy meals a day. But it doesn't always work out the way I plan.

Okay, this is marked easy! Zest and juice the lemons and limes, mince the garlic, julianne the sweet potatoes, chop the onions, trim asparagus. These string the snow peas, separate egg yolks from white, make beef into meatballs, drain noodles, rinse and puree legumes, drink wine, and separate water into two H's and one. Oh, what? Prep time, five minutes? Yeah right!

Hello, Pizza-R-Us. It's Me. Yes the usual, yes. I'll see you in five minutes.

Hi, I'm Dr Thomas, and I'm going to give you some tips on how to keep your eyes healthy. Beta Carotene found in carrots, sweet potatoes and bell peppers are great for macular health and for night vision.

'Hey babe, I'm making a kale salad. Want me to make you a bowl.'

'Oh Kale No!'

Omega threes are good for ocular inflammation and dry eyes, so don't forget your fatty fish, like salmon and dark leafy greens, like spinach and kale.

'Hey doc, we need to get a lunch order put in.'

'Sure, a Cobb salad,'

'okay,'

'but none of that lettuce or eggs. I don't like eggs. Tomatoes are gross. Can we get, like, bread on it?'

'Bread? like a crouton'

'Yeah, like a big crouton and, like, cut it in half,'

'okay,'

'okay, put some cheese on it, extra cheese and extra bacon'

'and extra bacon. Close it!'

'So we're having sandwiches for lunch?'

'Ooh, that sounds good.'

'Don't forget about your antioxidants, which include citrus fruits and colorful berries. These contain lutein and zeaxanthin, which help fight macular degeneration.

'That's why I cut pork out of my diet.'

'Aren't you holding bacon right now?'

'And?

'Isn't bacon pork? Yeah, but it's bacon.'

'It's okay. We'll cut it in post.'

If you can't get it in your diet, then maybe talk to your doctor about taking a vitamin.

'And as always, make sure, just like me, you stay hydrated eight glasses of water a day.'

'What's in my cup?

'Water.'
