Can you get STDs in your eye? Absolutely! So tell your eye doctor if you think you have one!

Transcript

Hello and this is the tea with Dr. T.
Did you know that STDs can cause serious issues with your eyes?
There has been a steep rise recently in gonorrhea and syphilis all of which have eye effects.
Some are mild like blurry vision and mucus discharge.
Others can be more serious, like permanent vision loss, and oftentimes they're misdiagnosed and undertreated because the patients aren't as forthcoming with their medical history as they should be.
I don't know how you feel about chasing wild geese, but in the meantime, while we're trying medications that are not gonna work for you, you could be permanently losing your vision.
So the moral of the story is, tell your doctor your complete medical history.
If you were enlightened in Woodstock or Burning Man, then don't be shy about it now, let your doctor know everything that they need to know so that we can treat you properly.
This has been the tea with Dr T, and I'll talk to you next Time.
Keep it classy.
